Graduates with no jobs?

how many people are there in this country that are graduates but dont have a job in their field? do you know anyone? i think women generally get jobs quicker as they try harder to find jobs than men do - just an interesting observation i have found

Vixta bores the hell out of me - get a life love

I know that it is a problem for a lot of people who never learned how to market their skills or who are in fields where many people get their degree. I worked for a guy who started his own program along with several other MBA graduates to help attract job offers to people getting their MBA degrees. He did find a job at some company, but he made nothing there and it was run very poorly, so he had to start his own company to get by.

You bore me.
Edited: Says he who drones on and on and on about rubbish.

im a graduate looking for a job...had a few people call me, but havent bothered to get back to them yet.

that kinda sums it up lol

they dont have jobs in there field because they havent got enough patience to wait for one, or to apply to them all, most just go for the easier option, and most student go get a degree just so they can be a student and put of work for while,

Most degrees nowadays have no vocational value of their own.

Unless you combine your degree with some work experience, you will end up managing a department at a supermarket.

I know some graduates who are thick as mince, I know managers who can't manage a bank account let alone people.
It's all down to the individual.

It depends on what you major in.

For those who major in subjects like drama, film studies, etc, then the chances are that they're not going to get a job in their field because there are far more people graduating with these degrees than there are jobs available.

For those who major in languages, it depends on your definition of "field". Clearly, a French graduate who goes on to be a secondary school French teacher is in a related job. But what about someone who goes to work as, say, a recruiter in a multinational company where they have been hired specifically for their language skills?

For those who do more business and scientific oriented degrees, yes, they tend to work in their fields.

I don't think I really agree with your observation about women finding jobs quicker! I'd be interested to know if there have been any formal studies, but amongst the people I know, this doesn't seem to be the case.

Me!

I have a History degree that has never helped me get a job. I even applied for a job as a historian/heritage office for a local heritage centre but didn't even get an interview! The competition is so fierce I didn't get shortlisted.

And I'm a woman so your theory doesn't hold with me.

I've done mainly temping and callcentre work since leaving university but have been away from work for about a year and a half after having my baby son. I'm applying for jobs right now and have applied for a library assistant and a research assistant but don't think I have much chance of getting them as I have no experience. I'll probably just end up doing a part time cleaning job . . . guess my degree was a waste of time.

How can you acuse Vixta or anyone else of being boring when you post crap up like this. Nobody cares about students with no jobs and I don't care for dull people like yourself. YOU BORE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
