Graduate employment help?

My degree ends in December 2007 at which point i will be looking for employment within my field; accounting. I have arranged an interview with a new employment agency specialised in accounting for late november and will be approaching my current agency around the same time whom have previously found me temp roles in accounting over vacation periods. The agencies have told me to approach them in late november so i have to wait.
What else could i do till then to help myself get a graduate accounting job?

hi why dont you try to join on a grad program yourself with a bank like lloyds tsb they give a great welcome package and the salary isnt bad either. Good luck

You should look for jobs yourself instead of counting on an employment agency. That way you don't need to give them part of your salary when you find a job.

Have a look at milkround.com which advertises graduate jobs and also gives you tips on applying. There are also some graduate jobs advertised on Monster.

Also, apply to graduate programs at companies that you'd be interested in working for - you'll find details on their website.

The problem that you'll have is that most graduate programs start in September as this is when most people graduate. Whilst there's no reason why you can't find a job starting next September, you've obviously got several months to fill in. You may find that you need to end up taking a job that's maybe not quite what you envisaged doing, just to fill these months in. The other alternative is that you could use this time to travel overseas, but of course the problems are that if you don't have the funds now then you haven't got long to save, and also you don't want to be overseas to miss out on any interviews.
