How can a Biology graduate fit into computer field job? |
Hi everyone iam a biology graduate student iam not really intrested into iology research.Icant come out fo this program as iam in the middle of the program. So aim plannig to take some computer courses thinking that i can get some computer related jobs with biology. Can anyone help me with this or otehr ideas. Thank you. Osmosis There has been research ongoing of biocomputing(bio instead of solid state) for a while now. Several schools have worked on this. You would have to contact them to research this. You're going in the right direction. I graduated from the University of Miami in 1985 with a degree in Marine Science, Biology & Chemistry. I then became a cop and did computer investigations for about 9 years. After that, I did alot of self-taught learning and computer classes. Today I'm a project manager for a major computer manufacturer and I've been doing this line of work in some form or another (IT Manager, CIO, IT Director, VP, or Systems Admin) for the past 12 years. Computers and good cameras with some powerful soft ware and there is a real world to be discovered. Now a days everything runs on computers, you can go to Bioinformatics , involves programming look at what kind of jobs you may have, take courses .... you might want to look into medical technology. it's basically laboratory work for a hospital. we have little or no patient contact, we use lots of biology especially human physiology (but also biochem and others also), and we have the opportunity of going strictly into computer work (for lab information systems). you might want to look into it, you might like it. |
