"branded university" = better jobs/higher pay?

hi,

I would like to ask, is it that the more well-known university graduates get better jobs than the ones tat are not.

For eg, compare a first class honours/second upper class honours graduate from a relatively good but "non-branded" university....

....and a bachelor graduate from a very well-known university..

Is it true tat the graduate from tat well-known university will get a better job/ higher pay than the other?

Initially, yes.

Fresh graduates from well-known universities (Ivy leagues, for example), get better jobs and better salaries than graduates from relatively good but "non-branded" universities.

However, the gap between the salaries narrows as you gain more experience in the industry.

This is because as a fresh graduate, the only thing you have to offer to a company is an arguably "good" education, so companies pay higher premiums for candidates from better universities.

But if you're armed with several years of experience and are competing against others with similar experience but from better universities, you stand a better chance. The type of college matters less because companies value your real life experiences more than what you learned in college.

Qns: Is it true tat the graduate from tat well-known university will get a better job/ higher pay than the other?

Ans: It will only give you a better chance to land a job. The part about better job and higher pay is called luck.
