Can I be guaranteed a job when I graduate from college?

I have very little job experience and just wondered would it be possible to get a good paying job after college.

It depends on which college you go to. If you attend a renowned school in the United States, a high paying job is guaranteed. For instance, 100% of Wharton's graduates who want jobs get jobs, and those jobs' salaries usually start at over $80,000 per year.

There are no guarantees in life.

There are no guarantees in life. But if you plan early you can line up a job offer where they will take you once you graduate.

There are NO guarantees in life. It took me 2.5 years after college of working meaningless jobs until I found one in my field (accounting)

Well anything's possible right ;) but what may help your chances of landing a good job that is in your field is applying to be an intern for a company or organization. Interns generally get little pay, but the experience that one can get can really 'pay' off in the end (pardon the pun :) and it can be an awesome way to gain marketability skills for potential future employers. Volunteering may help hone your craft as well. Good luck to you in all of your endeavors.

Depends on what that experience is and what your field of interest is. I work in the non-proft field and after 5 years of being out of college am still living pay check to pay check. I would suggest doing internships before graduating as they beef up your resume, offer job skills and, if they're good internships, give you a chance to network. Or volunteer for an organization- many nonprofits have great volunteer programs that allow you to experience the legal system, marketing and other areas of buisness.

In no way does a college degree guarantee you a job after graduation. Most of the high paying jobs in the marketplace require a college degree. Every other applicant is going to have a degree, so it is important to distinguish yourself in other ways besides your education. If another applicant right out of college with two years of work experience is going against you with none, who is more likely to get the job? It really depends on what field you are trying to go into, but employers look heavily into work experience as well as any volunteer work you may have done.

The bottom line is that a college degree is a great investment in yourself, but there are other factors that employers look into when deciding on a candidate for a possition with their company. Good luck with the job search!

Yes, you can be guaranteed a job when you graduate, but if Dad or your rich uncle isn't hiring it might not be guaranteed. I had a law school classmate who's uncle owned a personal injury firm. He was promised a job as long as he did not do anything too stupid - like work too hard in school and do law review and all those other time consuming things "good" law students do. So he did, and he worked for his uncle throughout law school doing research and other projects for him.

Otherwise, there are no guarantees of a job when you graduate.
