Why is it so hard to get a job when you graduate with your Bachelors? |
I just graduated with My bachelors and can't seem to get a interview anywhere. Why is it so hard? Isn't a Bachelors degree what differentiates you from the workforce without a bachelors? Depends to a large degree on which program you took. Some programs produce way too many graduates and so the market is glutted. To get an interview, you need to stand out from the herd. Experience, proven initiative and dedication will all help, so include your volunteer work in your resume. They want a combination of work experience and school education. I've struggled with the fact I have a two year degree in computers but yet finding work is almost near impossible. I have some work exprience, but not nearly enough. However, I still do not get how do you expect for people to get work experience if you will not hire them. It partly depends on where you are, because many areas have a poor job market. But also a Bachelor's degree is pretty common these days and if you don't have a business or medical-related degree you're just one of many similar job-seekers. If you can afford to do an internship try that first, or move to another region, or suck it up and go to graduate school. That's what I'm going to have to do. From an employers point of view, they want people with marketable skills. Undergrad degrees in many field gives you none of that, so you're out of luck. You'll find yourself in a catch-22 where you can't even gain experience because no one will hire you due to no experience. I know it's frustrating. Maybe go pressure your college's career center; they're supposed to help their graduates out and should do so after taking thousands of your dollars. Sorry dude you should stay more up to date with the buisness world. I you want a really good career you need a masters. It's just that a bachelors doesn't go far anymore. I suggest you go to http://www.monster.com not for jobs but how to write a proper resume since I think that is your main problem. Also, do you have any work experence? Try volunteering. Also make sure you know how to use all the up to date programs on computers. |
