Best place to live after college?

My husband is a chef, and I'm studying biology and plan to graduate college in 2009/2010 with a BS in Biology. I'm hoping to get a job in the US department of fish and wildlife or similar govt. agency, and they have offices all over the country. We're also looking for a place where we can get a small house with a big backyard. Any votes on where we should go?

Montana.
Lots of fish and wlidlife - and lots of resorts for chefs.

apartment is the cheapest get a nice one u can stand but not to nice and not too nasty

Miami Florida

New Mexico

a house

Norway hands down! Just because everyones your own cousin....

countrey. ask a real estate lady

Orlando, Florida you can go to the beach or Disney World

Houston, Texas!
It is one of the most affordable places (housing) to live and you have plemnty of water bodies to study.

Michigan could use you, and we have lots of lovely homes on the water for sale. We have a lake, stream, pond, river or other body of fresh water within 5 miles of anywhere in the state, and lots of great resort areas where your chef husband can have a career.

Alternately, Montana or Wyoming would give you lots of living space.

It really depends upon what you like and what you want. If you live in the south you have milder winters but the heat and humidity in the summer can be truly awful. Summers are more bearable up north, but winters can mean blizzards and bitter cold. If you move out west there's less water, which can be an issue for some. The Midwest is prone to wildfires and tornadoes. It really depends upon what appeals to you.

I've lived in two cities - Louisville, KY is my home town, and there's a lot to recommend it. It has a low cost of living, good economic growth, and plenty of country nearby. I now live in Pittsburgh PA, which I actually prefer. Great old buildings and architecture, lots of parks and greenery, affordable cost of living, but the infrastructure is crumbling, the taxes are high and the economy sucks. Still, I love both and would recommend them if you're into city living.
