Okay I'm going to correct my question because most people are not understanding my question.? |
I graduated college, with an assoicate degree in Office Administrative In Business, which is Administrative Assistant. I having trouble getting a job in that major. What can I do to get a job in that major. I have applyed for position Like Receptionist, Clerk, Administrative Assistant. But I have not had any luck. I have been called in for interviews since I graduated. What can I do to get a job in my major. Hopefully this helps alot of people who didn't understand my first question. Forget the staffing agency, they are all talk and no Jobs. Been there, done that. Keep going for those interviews, I've been to tons, and have finally found the right job. It's part time, it's administrative, I have my own office, It's casual dress, can't get much better. Interviewers can be quite annoying people. I went for an interview, and there was nothing but a lot of dead silence, as they didn't know what to ask. It was all alot of Ummmm, and Sooooo, and...Hmmmmm....I mean, give me a real interview?! Sign up with a staffing agency Just keep applying for jobs, I've seen plenty of openings in those areas, it shouldn't be too hard. If they're not hiring you, it may be because you don't have enough experience, try an entry level position. Either way, alot of graduates have a hard time finding a job in their particular major at first, it may take time. Keep trying. Do you have any customer service experience? Are you good at multitasking? I think that would help you get a job as an Administrative assistant. You could get a job that would help you build those skills and maybe after 6 months experience try again. You say you have been called in for interviews since you graduated. When you interview, smile, be pleasant, and let them see that you are a people-person. Talk about your strengths and your experience that applies to the position. Good luck! Yahoo is not co-operating. Well your getting interviews so thats good but maybe you need to work on your interviewing skills. Always act very enthusiastic about the job your interviewing for, do your research on that company before you go to the interview and always send a thank you letter. When you do your research always bring up something that the company has been recognized for like say im really excited about the possible oppurtunity to workk for a company that has ben in buisness for more than 30 years and has won the outstanding customer service award or something like that. When they see that you have done your research they will be more likely to hire you.I know how you feel though. I had a hard time finding a job too but eventually i found one.Dont give up though |
