What is a good path to take to become a Stockbroker as my career?

I am currently a Highschool graduate who is not currently attending school. I have done some research as to what the job includes but am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as far as education.

I would prefer to take some sort of 2 year program because I support myself financially and 4 years would get pricey. Give me what you know yahoo and thanks!

You'll need a bachelor's degree at least - so that's 4 years right there. Many companies will you have an MBA and/or a master's degree too, so that's another 3-4 years on top. Don't worry about the cost too much. There are lots of scholarships grants, and even loans available.

For your bachelor's degree, economics is an obvious choice, but you may want to also consider political science, history, or just about any liberal arts degree.

Right now, see what entry positions for stockbroker are looking for in terms of education and other experiences. If you have a relative of family friend who works in this field, see if they can give you additional information, or even go with them to work to see what it's really like.
