I am an engineering graduate fresher. done mainframe certification.. any jobs for me ? First off, congratulations on your degree! There is a lot of demand for engineering graduates, and beginning salaries have been increasing steadily for the past few years; to the tune of over $50K. Now the bad news, I hate to tell you, but you should have been looking for a position as early as last fall, and should not have waited til graduation to begin looking. But all is not lost. Here are some quick points that might help you... 1. Try attending a career fair on campus or even at another school's campus and do some networking. Might involve some legwork to see when the career fairs are run, but it's a very efficient way of getting your resume out there to people that are actually recruiting in your field. 2. Check with your fellow classmates and see how they are doing. They're in the same boat as you and might be able to help with some advice. 3. If it's not too late, check with your school to see if there are any internships/co-ops with outside companies that are available. Some schools have very good career development programs to help you transition into the working force. 4. Although I am dubious about the true usefulness of Monster.com, try posting your resume there. Just make sure to limit the amount of critical personal information and set up a dummy email account to catch all the spam that Monster generates. Cheers and Good Luck! http://careers.yahoo.com/ |
