Would Computer Science and Computer Engineering Graduates get the same Jobs? Which Graduates would get better Jobs? There is no better job, it depends on what career path you as the graduate want to take. Computer engineering (also called electronic and computer engineering) is a discipline that combines elements of both electrical engineering and computer science.[1] Computer engineers are electrical engineers that have additional training in the areas of software design and hardware-software integration.[citation needed] In turn, they focus less on power electronics and physics. Computer engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This engineering discipline is especially useful for integrating embedded systems into devices and machines ( for example, several embedded computer systems are used to control and monitor the many subsystems in motor vehicles).[2] Usual tasks involving computer engineers include writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems.[citation needed] Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research,[citation needed] which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors. Computer science, or computing science, is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems.[1][2][3] Computer science has many sub-fields; some emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others relate to properties of computational problems (such as computational complexity theory). Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describing computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems with solutions.
