Unless you took the bar exam here and passed it, you cannot practice law anywhere. Also, the bar exam is only specific for a certain state and does not apply to other states, because every state has different laws. You will most likely have to take law classes here in the USA if you want to work as a lawyer. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2005, California had an estimated population of 36.1 million people. As of this moment, California has approximately 200,000 active and practicing lawyers. That means that 1 in 180 people is an attorney. And there's always room for another good one. However, Schlangem is right. An Indian law degree does not mean squat here. You're going to have to probably attend law school here locally and then take the California Bar Exam.
