How much should a high school graduate make ? |
What should a high school graduate make per hour on average? I just got hired at a place, and feel as if this job isn't worth the pay ( 6.50 per hour) At my old job before I graduated I made 6.25 per hour. I know a High School Diploma isn't as good as a college degree. I plan to attend college next year. Depends how hard your job is. If it's taking orders at McDonald's, then that's average. If you're doing construction then you're getting ripped off. I believe that is at or above min. wage, so you should consider yourself lucky. Hang in there, after you graduate college, you should be making alot more. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! A lot depends on your skill set, the job requirements, etc. $6.50 is minimum wage. Is what you do typical of only $6.50 an hour? In order to make any kind of real money, you need to educate yourself. That may mean college or university, or it may mean other ways of educating yourself in different areas (such as business, real estate, and so on). When I was a kid, I made good money doing odd jobs that others didn't particularly want to do (and it was more dangerous than what others might have done). I made good money at it, and learned valuable business skills--mostly through mistakes! If you don't feel like your work is paying enough, try looking for another job. But, look for another job while you have one, and do good work at your present job. Bad news can follow you around... Good luck! lign="right" > Sign in to vote! I wonder why people don't mow lawns or shovel walks instead of the minimum wage jobs. I know 2 older ladies who like to pay individuals for both those tasks-and that's $20-40 an hour...when I was having tough times as a single mom, I did that for extra money. Go to a neighborhood where older people live and leave some flyers. Lots of baby boomer that still have their homes. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! I am part of this amazing company that requires no level of education, we don't care about your past and you can definately make more than 6.50/hr...you just need some dedication. This is an at home business, and I am still very excited about it. If you would like to know more, email at wellness-manager@hotmail.com and I would be happy to give you more information. This will be worth your while! |
