Worthless to be a graduate, do u agree?

I'm an accounting graduate in 2004. Apply for so many jobs, always got reason that I don't have the related experience. Can't get experience without a start.....So, all I can do is work for some low pay part-time jobs, registered a short course for using accounting software. That's the only thing I can do, hope it's right and wait for a miracle....

I have to agree with you, in today society you really need experience to get anywhere right out of college, even having internships and co-ops doesn't help because they might not have been completely relevant to what you really want to do. I think that the education system in America is corrupt. Students pay $100 of $1000s of dollars to go to college and get an 'education' but if they don't have the skills that a employeer is looking for then it's useless. So many graduates today become 'Educated Idiots' -- smart kids with degrees that can't get good jobs and take whatever part time work they can get. I think America's education system should be changed. I think we need more vocational schooling, more hands on training working side by side with potential employeers... We should be spending those 4 years learning the correct tools and skill sets that are going to get us a good job right out of college, we shouldn't be spending that 4 years in classrooms reading manuals about outdated information. I have to agree that a degree really means nothing, employeers bank on it, you can't get anywhere without one, but you really can't get anywhere with one unless you have relevant experience in your field. I wish you all the best though in your career searches!
I know this sounds weird, but try to get a job managing a retail store for a while. It really helps - having management experience.
I know what you mean. It's hard to get the experience when no one will hire you because you lack experience. It is quite a problem. I experienced that myself.

I guess the key is to try to find entry level positions in accounting that require no experience. Try going to job placement or temp agencies. They may be able to help.

Also, perhaps hired into a similar field and laterally transfer into accounting.

Just some thoughts and ideas.
internship.
It's not worthless, it really does pay off in the long run.

I got my start at temp agencies. Once I had my foot in the door, I was able to talk to the right people and land a very good job, which started my career.

You could try Account Temps, TAC Temps or Apple.
