How does a graduate Computer Programmer get a job? I have looked for a year, and no bites.? |
Graduated from SUNY with BS in Comp. Sci. (Summa *** Laude) If you are serious coder, make sure you know your stuff!. It is not so difficult if you know what you are talking about?. Are you good in VB6, C#, VB.net, Java?...Show your real talent!. Otherwise, i would suggest you to get a software or system support job to start with. I have interview over hundreds of programmers. To be honest... A lot are just merely time waster!...We can get very good programmers from India and China nowadays. So, what can you do to compete with them?. Ask yourself?. Programming skills?, System analysts skills?, industrial Experience?, or experience in developing some ERP system?. Otherwise, bring down your expectation, take the learning steps!. Be prepared to sacrifice. Imagine if you have already work for one year (May be with minimum pay to keep your stomach happy!). You would probably better off to hop for a better job now!.... Contact me if you really think you are good!. I may be able to provide you with a real opportunity to start working..... Don't you mean "no bytes"? haha! SUNY? Cool! Which one? I almost went to a SUNY. I'm in Computer Media, and there are several jobs out there. If you can't find one, then do freelance stuff. Maybe there's a position open at your school somewhere. You should look for data centers that need developers. Try the websites of different companies. Most have a section dedicated to new college grads. Also try staffing and consulting agencies. Many of those jobs are outsourced. |
