Government background check form?

I was hired for a student aid government job and have to fill out a form. One of the questions asks if I have ever used marijuana and what was the date. I've tried it once, should I put I have? Also says if you lie on anything you can be fined $10,000 and get 5 years in jail.

The answer is simple. Answer truthfully.

20 years ago when I worked for the NSA and again 15 years ago while working for the Hague, I was asked if I had ever used drugs.

My response to both was "Of course I have. Grass and cocaine" I worked for the NSA for 5 years and the hague for 10.

I would not admit to trying marijuana. As long as it's been over 3 months they could never prove you've done it. Even if you went for a drug test and were asked you to submit a hair sample ( which may be unlikely depending what state you leave in) and a small trace of marijuana was found by law they could not prove you smoked it. Traces of marijuana can be found in your hair if anyone in your house smokes.
