Why do we get turned down from a job we applied for because of bad credit even if the job isn't about finance? First - a company cannot check your credit as a condition of employment without your approval. I assume you signed the permission form... Second - there is a direct correlation between a person's credit worthiness and the amount of time they take off for personal time. In some cases the company will assume that the person has poor judgment and cannot handle the responsibilities of "their" job. It's unusual for a credit check to be run unless you work for a financial institution, handle money or do third-party work that involves a high degree of financial integrity. Source(s): 20 years in HR is that legal? Bad credit in the form of late payments or no payments reflect on your character. If you lied about a loan... what else would you lie about? it's shows that you must not be responsible. i am not saying you are but that is their reasoning. sorry. my credit isn;t great either and i am trying to fix it now so i don't have that problem. Some employers see it as an indication of irresponsibility and some see it as a concern that you might squander the employer's assets or steal. Before you apply for a job, it might help if you explain your circumstances to the HR recruitment manager. Sorry for you disappointment. http://www.bigbadboss.com |
