finance company is through Oak Motors. My brother is 1 month behind..made arrangements to pay the amount in 3 days. They keep calling me and my mother-in-law to get ahold of my brother. My Mother-in-law was used as a reference that my brother did indeed have a job...nothing else. They keep calling her and telling her they are trying to get ahold of me. I am not a co-signer or anything on this just another reference. There is no reason for them to keep calling especially since he has made arrangements with them. She is visually impaired and has told this lady she cannot take down the number to have me call and she refuses to give her my phone number. Is this fair for them to do this. We have asked them not to call.
I think your brother has not told you the truth about how far behind he is in payments or the arrangement he made to pay. Legitimate finance companies do not spend a lot of time and money to track down someone who is only one month late. But if you have told them to stop calling you, they should not be calling you. To do so would be a violation of laws to protect consumers from aggressive credit collectors. If they continue to call, report them to the BBB and/or your state attorney's office.
Out of curiosity, why would your mother-in-law be a reference for employment. Why wouldn't they contact the actual employer? |
