College graduate needs to know starting salaries for finance majors in chicago.? |
I am a dual degree undergraduate student (economics & finance) with experiece in sales and marketing. I have no finance work experience except for my academic training. I have a high GPA in both of my majors: 3.9 & 3.7. Could you tell me what kind of pay I should expect? I am looking for a job as a financial analyst, consultant or something related to asset (portfolio) management. Maybe you can suggest places I should apply to? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. I'm not sure what the salaries would be or where you can find work, but I would recommend checking www.salary.com website. They can give you some of the information you are looking for. Also, check www.monster.com which has some great career advice. try http://www.salary.com it is free and it gives you national and local salary of your career choice with your imput of your personal qualifications. I would personally find someone who will seek out the right job for you and your qualifications. They are called a head hunter... Good Luck!! You really should check the resources at your college. It should have some sort of alumni network or career center. You could also ask an advisor or some of the professors in your department. Most banks have investment and trust divisions. Big brokerage houses, of course, have their own divisions for analysis and/or personal finance/asset management. In terms of salary, it really depends. You should check Salary.com for reference, but I'd think it would be in the mid-30's to low-40's, depending on the type of job you get. Lastly, has you considered going to grad school for an MBA? |
