Yep. Thinking about starting to sell cars. Can't find a finance job.... but that's neither here nor there.
I'm just wondering if I'm gonna have to live on ramen noodles for the next year until I learn the job. Is it strict commission? Any info from salesmen would be helpful. Thanks.
There is no set answer to that question. It really depend on the dealership that you are working for. I have been in the business for 15 years and I have seen sales people come in and make $70-80 grand their 1st year and then I have seen some come in and barely make $2 grand a month, it really depends. Try not to get to smart in the business and do what management tell you as far as what to say to customers. The less you know the more money you make (meaning, you don't have to know what the dealership have in a vehicle or how much is a dealership is puting in a vehicle). My first 3 years in the business was my best years and then I got smart. I still do well but I could do better. Good luck and give it atleast a year so that you can compare the good times with the bad times. The good times will outweigh the bad times. Take care.
