Does anyone know of the laws about federal firefighters wearing hearing aids to work? |
my husband is a federal firefighter and due to hearing loss related to his job, he is being told he needs hearing aids. He was told that this is job related hearing loss, but they are telling him he may loose his job. Yes Dear, the fire fighter job needs physical and mental capacity. The job needs full attention. A fire fighter must be perfectly fit. Refer to Rules and manuals of the Job. Thank you Using the hearing aids would not cause he loose his job; if this is your main concern. However, your husband 'MAY" have good case of 'lawsuit' as the nature of his job has potential harms to hearing system of everyone! He must talk with VERY good lawyer, usually they are very expensive. The lawyer must be expert in suing Government and its Agencies. IN any event, your husband MUST keep very good record of all his 'Medical Examinations' and Expenses. I do not know if this would fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but it's the only thing I could find. Try the website, as it gives phone numbers you could call. http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm... |
