Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal helped America recover from the Great Depression by providing federal mon |
It gave money back to the tax payers It created desperately needed good paying jobs It encouraged wealthy people to do the same thing It made trade easier with Mexico It allowed construction companies to make a large profit But it also started a cycle of dependency on handouts because FDR and Congress were short sighted and did not have a sunset provision for the entitlement programs they created. The New Deal created generations who rely on "assistance" as their regular income. It also created generations who rely on social security for their retirement fund, which discourages saving for one's own retirement. But worse of all, the programs created a large government with lots of bureacracies and a huge appetite for tax money. So whats your question? Agreed-- do you actually have a question? What's the question Queenie? it had nothing to do with the new deal. anyone that understands history and economy will tell you that. sorry http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/aaohtml/exhi... http://www.museum.siu.edu/university_mus... http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/08... Then how come the Great Depression lasted for 8 years (1933-1941) while he was President ? "It gave money back to the tax payers" ?? Do you understand how the government works? The government only gets money FROM taxpayers. If the government takes $100 from you in taxes, it must use some of that to pay for the working of the government (IRS, federal prisons, congress's salaries, re-election funds, etc). So when they give it back, they only give back a fraction of what they took. How is taking $100 in taxes, and giving back $50 in welfare or a work program a good thing??? "It created desperately needed good paying jobs"? Once again, you show a lack of understanding of how the government works. If you take $100 in taxes from a business, they can not hire people. When they give you back $50 you can hire fewer people, or pay worse wages. "It encouraged wealthy people to do the same thing" How? How can weathly people that paid 70% or more in taxes hire new people or start new businesses? "It allowed construction companies to make a large profit" Wrong again. Their profits were taken from them (taxes) so they were less able to hire people or invest in new equipment. What do they teach in school these days? Appearently not basic math or economics. Check the records, the New Deal made the depression worse. |
