Teaching chemistry for non-profit organization with per diem based pay--are state & fedl taxes still deducted? |
currently, i work at a major university and my salary is grant-based. however, now i'm seeking employment with a non-profit organization that pays a per diem rate. the salary is higher at the non-profit. will federal & state taxes be deducted from my pay just like regualar jobs or must i pay it all at tax time? It doesn't matter if it's a non-profit or a for-profit: if you're an employee, taxes are deducted. It's the nonprofit that doesn't pay taxes on ITS "profits" -- it doesn't pay taxes on revenue that exceeds income. However, if you're not an employee, if you're a "consultant" or something, then you have to pay your own taxes. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! lass="explain-text">Sometimes none of the answers get it just right.
