Are the federal employment jobs that are advertised in the local newspaper legit?

Are the federal employment jobs that are advertised in the local newspaper legit?

If you have to call a toll free number or send money they are a legitimate company, but they are only selling you a bunch of information, and forms that you can get for free at your local library, post office or you can download only the forms you need in order to apply for a job at the website that pertains to the government job you want. Instructions on how to fill out the forms can also be found on the appropriate website. A good place to start would be www.usajobs.opm.gov just to get an idea what is out there or what you could qualify for.

They are usually private companies "training" you how to apply for a gov job .
I would never waste time there , but some people do for unknown reasons .
If you want a gov job , just check the openings at the agency you are interested in directly and apply .

They should be. But you can also check out civil service jobs (aka government/federal employment jobs) online. You might want to call the newspaper classified advertising editor or manager to check on the validity of the offered positions. Also, is there a web site listed in the ad? If so, check it out. If not, go online and check the U.S. Government website and click on employment or jobs. You can also check your telephone directory b/c most of the time the U.S. Government has listings in telephone directories nationwide and sometimes the web addresses are also listed. So, check it out! Hope this helps.
