Finding a job having a federal felony?

I had a Federal Felony on the year 2000. I am applying for a job. Should I mention in the application that I had that felony?

If it is required on the application or is asked of you, you must disclose it. If you don't, and they later find out you will be fired for untruthfulness on your job application.

Then try getting a job!

are you asked? if so & you lie, hope your boss never finds out.

Yes, have you ever looked at a Form SF-171? It has a box on the form to check if you've got a federal conviction. Look at lines 38 to 44 on page 5......

yes they will find out anyway !

Actually, it's good to say that at the very beginning of your interview. Just get it out in the open. It'll allow you to keep control of the flow of the interview. If you wait until they ask you about it, you'll be on the defensive.

Explain to them what it was for, and that you've changed (if you have), and usually that honesty will get you bonus points.

If they wouldn't hire you anyway, they'll let you know right then and you won't have wasted your time or theirs on an interview.

Answer ONLY what the application asked... Do not volunteer information that is not asked...

If it is asked then be truthful about it!

my friend did 14 yrs for murder. he tells the story, some consider it
honest. he dont get every job, but he works......
