Federal tax?

On my paystubs for my job next to federal tax withheld it says 0.00. Aren't they supposed to take that out? Would that hurt me when it comes to my Income tax?

I haven't been at this job long. I've only made 9728 this year.

It depends on how much you make and your personal situation - if your income is low enough, you might not owe any tax. But if you do have any tax liability, then you'll have to pay the amount when you file your return.

This depends on how much you make and how many exemptions you claimed when you filed out your W-4.

Without knowing everything about all your taxable income and filing status, we can't tell you if this will hurt you or not.

If you are worried about it change your W-4 to single & zero and see what the difference is in weekly federal withholding.

Have you declared any dependents with your employer?
You should at least declare one, yourself.

You will owe taxes in 2008 return, for 2007, if no deductions have been made.

Be sure to change that for next year.

if you are single with no depends, you should only owe a little tax - maybe $100-150. If you had any dependents and no other income, you probably won't owe any tax

Get with your employer and fill out form w-4 to have them take out withholding. When you file the tax return you will probably owe.
