How does federal work study affect your tuition?

I was elegible to recieve 1500 in federal work study. my question is if i accept it i have to get a job on campus so if i get a job that pays 7.50 an hour, do i get the 1500 for the work study plus whatever money i earn at 7.50 an hour at the job? or do i only get the 1500 in work study and i work at 7.50 an hour until i reach the 1500 mark and then ill start earning the money from the 7.50 an hour job. HELP

No, the $1500 is what you would earn in working the job - you would not get $1500 plus $7.50 an hour. The award is $1500 and you work at $7.50/hour until you reach $1500. At that point you would either have to see about having some adjustments made or stop the job until the following semester or see about being paid as a regular worker (which most schools don't do because it's a pain to go from student worker to regular employee back to student worker for such a short period of time between semesters).

Plus you don't have to get a job on campus - there should be several that are off-campus, such as community service jobs (i.e. reading literacy, etc).

The work study money is used to help with your expenses regarding your schooling. Usually, there is a set maximum amount awarded to the student per year. You have to work in job set aside for that program on the college campus and sometimes in the community. The amount of the $1500 is dispersed as you work the hours and comes in the form of a paycheck written out to you. I have included some readings that should help on the matter. Good luck!

You receive the funds from the $1500 as you earn it by working. You receive a check just as you would a regular employee, every week or every 2 weeks. When the $1500 is exhausted, you may or may not be put on regular college payroll, if your supervisor likes your work and they can find other funds from the school. You probably cannot get more financial aid funds from college work study because you would be overawarded. You can always check with a financial aid counselor to see if you can receive any more money once it is exhausted. Anyway, good luck, many students receive great work experience from college work study.

the ideal is to study without having to work, because to study the time it is gold.
but you can!!! if they are few working hours.
