I recently applied with the United States Postal Service for Casual and have questions regarding it. See below |
Ok I went in to my local postal office as instructed t o do so and feeled out all the paperwork, everything the same day this past Wednesday. It is for Casual. What all does Casual consist of? I went in Thursday morning to take the required drug test for employmet with the postal service. So basically about how long now should it be before I hear something back from them as far as employment goes? I live in Baton Rouge, LA so based on my city exactly what would i expect to make based on per hour and yearly? I'm currently 19 yrs old and have been out of serious work for over 10 months and this jobs would be aesome as its a federal job with lots of benefits plus I could pay for my college education myself without a financial aid loan plus I could start saving up for a house and pay cash for it. Also after 6 months I could take a test to become a career mail career rather than a casual one so would in being a career mail carrier after passing the test would i be certified? Typically, casual positions are temporary, inside positions. These positions usually include mail sorting, mail loading, and machine operation and can be done at night while the regular post office operation is closed to the public. One word of caution. The casual temporary positions schedules are tedious to say the least. They can and do often work casual temps long hours and sometimes 7 days a week during peak mail periods and you are subject to work any and all shifts. It is hard work but if you impress the supervisor and they keep you for up to 180 days you may be able to take the test and get on the full time register. The pay is usually about $19 to $22 per hour. You should not have had to take a test to be a casual. You are only required to test if you want full-time employment. |
