Job applications & your mental health?

When & if I apply for a federal job & I come across a question about seeking or being treated for a mental disorder. I don't want to tell my employer & how would they know? My records & my health are my business & I know I'm suppose to have confidentallty.

T/Y Laylah you're a cutey too ;-)

Don't tell them! They will not find out- unless you say something.

I'm a police aide, and i went through the same thing...... my sister is a police officer and she takes three different type of depression medication. She didn't enclose that information, and they never found out.

there is a such thing as " patient confidentiality" there is no way they can find out.... and if they do sue your doctor. But I do not think they'll find out.

Good luck Baby

most employers run a background check on applicants especially if it for a government job. lying on an application regardless of the question can cause this employer not to hire you. i dont know about federal jobs but most applications i have come across do not ask you if you are/currently seeing a dr. for mental health. they only ask if you have commited a felony
or spent time in jail. good luck

If you don't tell them and they find out, you could end up losing your job.
It should not affect your application, although you might have to see occupational health to prove that you are not a risk to anyone.

Hell NO- they won't hire you. I'm telling you they will be biased! Trust me on this one.

You don't have to worry.

You would have to sign a special HIPPA release for mental health records and they would need the name of your doctor and neither of these is ever a part of a job application. Well, maybe FBI or CIA, etc.

Good luck finding a job you love!
