How can i get a graduate engineering job or a computer aided designer? |
I had graduated 5 years ago with a 2:2 in Mech Eng and have no experience. I was not able to apply for engineering jobs due to family commitments. I can start work now but have difficulty in succeeding with applications. I need You really need to stay on the ladder, 5 years is a long time. Although universities give the impression doing an engineering degree will give a job straight away, it far from the truth. A first class honours from a red brick uni can be hard to find a job. You can continue to apply for jobs that inspire you or upgrade your self and get a masters which is likely to make you more enployable. Do you know anyone whos might be able to recommend you? Try seeing a careers advisor!!! Make sure your CV is in great order, get advice and tips on it, you have to be a little patient most my friends took up to a year to get a job after graduating. Can you put other thing on your CV that show commitment ie a member of the rugby or hockey team , clubs etc. Employers want to see that applicants have activities outside work. It may be easier to get contract jobs first rather than permanent. if you mean a 2.2 GPA, then i would recommend going back to school and obtaining a 2nd degree, like something computer related. it'll be hard finding a good engineering job with a 2.2 GPA. just like someone said above, i would suggest you take on some temp. jobs and build experience. A lot of times companies dont weight heavily on your grades. that is certainly something they look at to get you in the door, but ultimately it depends on how well you interview and what your experience is like. http://www.net-temps.com/jobs/engineerin... |
