How much does GPA affect getting an engineering job?

i'm an Aerospace engineer in college, and my GPA isn't the best. How badly will it affect me?

It probably depends on the size of the company.

Bigger companies tend to care more about GPA because they have to go through so many applications. If you're thinking of something like Boeing, then they'll probably check GPA. It's not really a hard and fast rule, but it's just a general gauge.

The smaller companies tend to ignore GPA and want to know more about you as a person and how well your skills will fit. Or how smart you are, etc.

A degree will get you in the door. However, your interview performance will render a GPA nearly irrelevant once you get past the HR contact.
If you feel it isn't 'the best', you need to fix in your mind that that GPA is not 'YOU' and not what your employer needs to worry about.

You might even try applying at some 'dummy' jobs just to get a feel for how the process is likely to go for your particular field. Plus, once you land your first job, your grades will matter less and less.
