Is civil engineering a good job?

Iwould like answers from civil engineers. I'm good at Physics and Maths and i would like to know the jobs i can do with this subjects.

Yes you are fit to be a Civil Engineer and it is highly paid job with good demand all over the world.
Try to have specialisation in certain Field of it, prior to finish your studies. you can have part time job, during specialisation.
I'm an Architect but I know Civil Engineering very well.

Civil engineering is a very rewarding job. You get to build and design stuff that has a productive use in society. There are many specialties that suit your interest. A few are:

- Construction Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Transportation Engineering
- Urban Planning
- Water Resources

I work for a land development company that is working on a conversion of an old naval shipyard to a mixed use project. It included a mixture of residential, commercial, industrial, educational, historic, and recreational areas.

The compensation is also reasonable. I suggest checking out http://www.asce.org/kids/whatis.cfm... for more information.

My advice is first, don't get into Civil Engineering. It sucks and you will work 60 hour weeks (salaried with no overtime) and get paid nothing compared to other engineers and other professions like accounting. Civil Engineers are the lowest paid out of all the engineers.

Civil Engineering salaries have been stagnant over the past 20 years while the cost of getting a Civil Engineering degree has skyrocketed and so has their liability insurance.

I suggest getting into Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Chemical Engineering. They make a lot more than Civil Engineers and they have a wider variety of companies that need these types of engineers so you can always find someplace you like.

That and those jobs are more stable than Civil Engineering jobs since civil engineering jobs are based on how much people are building. Back in the 90's there was a glut of Civil Engineers so a lot of them were jobless, right now we have a shortage of Civil Engineers but in the very near future we will return to having a glut of Civil Engineers due to the building slow down in the commercial and residential markets.
