Engineering for girls? |
Im kind of, sort of thinking about majoring in chemistry or engineering, or chemical engineer... but my older sis wont let me do it because she says that girls cant get a good job in engineering major. is it true? and what kind of jobs can one get with a major in engineering? thanks! Actually their is groups specifically for women in engineering because there is a define need. To get into engineering you must a basic desire to figure things outs....I know ten girls that will be graduating with me with a BS in Engineering and Physics, Mechanical Specialty. My point is if you want to do than go for...no matter what anyone tells you...Think of it this way after you succeed at doing something no one will ever be able to say that you can't do it...because its something you have already done. Your sis is a dipstick - you can do whatever you want and depending on where you live, there will be work available. Your sister is stupid for thinking that. Sister is SOO wrong. Four girls in my family, 3 got engineering degrees, all got multiple offers out of college. Big companies, good pay. Two still work in their field, and have been promoted several times. One went back to school, got a law degree and is now a patent attorney. BTW, majors were electric engineering (circuit designer), electro-mechanical engineering, and a chemical engineering. You can get tons of jobs as a female engineer! My younger sister is a software engineer for a major Fortune 500 company. She's doing well and loves her job. If you ever decide to seek a different position, there are so many other opportunities like product management, QA, research & development and consulting. An engineering background (or even chemistry) is tremendously valuable! It depends on where you r? Gold is gold. Where ever u go. So go for it. For a starter, stop thinking and go ahead and major in the field in which ur interest lies. What wud u like to live with being and working for the money all ur life? Answer that cos its ur life. The job options will follow later. |
