Is cables and cabling systems related to mecahnical engineering?

i just want to know whether a mechanical engineer is qualified to work with cables and cabling systems or is it more of an electrical engineer's job.
is structured cabling part of a mechanical engineer's job.

You really chose a difficult question.
An electrical engineer is best suited to dealing with the terminations at the ends whereas a mechanical engineer is best suited to dealing with structured cabling and fixings.
How about a mechanical engineer with HNC elec.
technically, no degree is really realted to a cable installer. the closests is probably a master electrican.

BICSI is an organization that provides certification at different levels that are ALMOST like degree. They are very accreditted and make you learn every standard inside and out.

It get certified, you must preform tasks such as designing structured cabling systems and installing fiber optics
