I Want to know what steps should i follow to excel in mechanical engineering.,to ensure job after 4 years?

I have joined Muslim association Engineering college,TVPM in this year .I like to top in my course.whether i have to take additional courses?please give correct advice.IF U are a PROFESSOR,please give correct guidlines.

After four years you would undergo placement
1.So you need not only bookish knowledge but also extra knowledge of what is happening in the world of mechanics
2.you should have great communication skills
3.always be in the top 10 not only in studies but also in the extra curricular activities of the coll edge
4.finally don't worry be happy and enjoy as coll edge life come once in a life span

I did mechanical engineering too....let me give you a few tips from my side
1) Get to know the basics of any subject you're learning very well
2) Try solving all the exercise problems from the prescribed text book of any subject so that you can improve your knowledge in it
3) Whichever subject impresses you a lot try gaining uptodate knowledge in that field by searching it in internet
4) Keep constant touch with all the professors and get their help to get details about books to gain the basics
5) Apart from textbooks written by indian authors read some standard textbooks by foreign authors as well...that will really help you
6) When you reach your 3rd year list a few companies as your dream and get good knowledge in the subjects required for getting into the company
7) Try doing simple projects if you get innovative ideas if possible

> Find coop or internship at mechanical engineering. This will boost your resume significantly.

> Test for the EIT if you're in the US. Get a PE license as soon as possible.
