Chemical engineering?

what does a chemical engineer do? which field offers jobs to chemical engineers. and is it true that chemical engineers are the highest paid engineers

The pay was certainly one reason why my son selected that specialty. He also didn't have the drawing skills for mechanical engineering. Nuclear engineering might pay higher, but there aren't many jobs in that field. He had his pick of job offers before graduation and is very satisfied with his pay.
With regards to payment, it depends on where you work. Entry level positions are usually very consistent pay-wise.
Chemical engineers may work directly on plant, both in quality and in line, regulating, controlling or designing the "unit operations" required in a process. Unit operation being any particular piece of equipment, like heat exchangers, reactors, pipe flow etc.

hope this helps
