What jobs do aero engineers get? |
after joining what do they do? There are several sub-categories in aerospace engineering. There is stress, to validate the sizing of components for the load that will go through them; there is loads & dynamics, to asses the flexibility and deformation of the structure and load concentration; there is avionics, to look after the instrumentation and sensors; there is aerodynamics, to model the airplane contour using computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel models; flight sciences -- or applied aerodynamics -- that handles the stability and control issues (to size the control surfaces, and the autopilot) and determines the performance -- take off and landing distance, climb rate, etc.; thermodynamics, to assess the engine performance and other termal related issues like de-icing systems, and so on. Airplane are very complex systems, and each of us could be seen as almost overly specialized... Source(s): 26 years as an aerodynamicist/flight performance they work with objects that are put into a wind tunnel. this is to get the best aero package for that item. (plane) (race car), etc. There are just too many to name. One company can not design, build, test an airplaine all by itself. I have a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I work in the avionics industry for commerical airplanes. If you send me a private message, I can tell you what I do in detail. I am one. |
