How hard is it to find a job for a new college graduate in engineering? |
I mean I am not in college, but I have to choose my major that's why. I am a little a worred about engineering cause i see my uncle, who has been a chemical engineer for about 20 years, just couldn't keep a job for more than 6 months? So can anyone please help me. feel free to mention any better major you can think of. Thank you. I'm a recently retired Director of Engineering of a large Aerospace company. All areas of business have their ups and their downs. On up cycles we couldn't find enough good engineers. On down cycles we had to lay-off plenty...as much as 35% of the engineering workforce. However, those that were let go usually found another job within a month or so. I don't recall many who remained unemployed for too long. We live in a highly technical world, and technology is advancing everyday. I highly recommend engineering. The one area that might be a little shakey is computer software engineering. There is a trend to offload this type of engineering to India, Mexico, Russia etc because of their low labor rates. its not that much hard to find the jobs,u just do one thingh tat u should get good marks in engg.atleast 75%.then come outside face one or two intterviews surely u will get job,but wat i suggest is tat its better to do masters ,only engg. means u get less jobs.... o.k u better m-tech,mba etc. o.k |
