Which is the better engineering with respect to job oppurtunities ...software engg. or computer engg? |
i have to apply for school...kinda confused....what to choose.... what will be the job scene two years from now? Software Engineering is higher paid and has higher demand. Software development trends in language skills; JAVA/C++/.NET..etc are considered more difficult to master than static hardware. Right now .NET development skills are in huge demand, w/ 1/3 of all posted positions in the US being in the PNW by MSFT and all the little dev shops around it w/ .NET developers having 2 years experience out earning a C developer w/ 5 years of experience. The hardware side in mobile computing is catching up fast though. You can apply to either one, as they probably share the same courses during the freshman year. Towards the second half of your freshman year, you can get a feeling for which one is better. Computer engineering is part of electrical/electronics engineer and has a lot to do with hardware, but has parts that deal with software. Software engineering is a mainly dealing with software and does not deal much with hardware. |
