What is the best college to go to if you are majoring in Computer Engineering? |
Also what types of jobs would a computer engineer get when they get out of college, would you work for a computer related company like microsoft or dell, or for something more intermational? Your selection of "best" really depends on what you plan to do with your degree. For example, the previous answer of MIT would be an excellent choice if you want to go to graduate school and get a Masters or Doctorate Degree, but might not be best if you want to work "hands on" with just a bachelors degree. There is another factor, if you go to a collge that is a "reach" where your grades are C's and B's, you might not learn as much as you would in an easier college where you can grasp everyting and get mostly A's. Personnally, I would call the HR departments of tech companies in the localities where you eventually want to live, and ask them for recommendations based on their experience with current employees. My personal favorite is Cal Poly, but if I were going to college again, I would pick one near the beach (Like UC San Diego) or one in the Southeast (like Georgia Tech). Stanford is surrounded by Silicone valley with lots of computer geeks everywhere, but is harder to get into than MIT. Keep in mind, with a bachelor's degree, after 5 years in the workforce, no one will care where you went to school, they will only look at your track record in business and your work experience. Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT without question...actually it really depends on what you are tring to do with a degree in CompE. MIT kind of a reach. I went to Cal Poly and agree. Fantastic School, great area and great reputation. Hands on, not theory. |
