What is a good major for someone who came from India with two years of chemical engineering education? |
I have a friend who came from India two years ago with her studies interrupted because of the move to U.S. When she moved, she was in her second year of chemical engineering course, which she didn't complete. She has been here for two years and taking GE classes at a university. She was told to take the TOEFL test so that her classes from India can get credits. So we have 2 questions: Would she be able to transfer her 2 years classes in India here? What is a good recommendation for her if she was to re-think about her major, based on her experience? Keep in mind she has to be "earning" good in order to get settled well. If anyone knows about engineering field in detail and what are "reputable" jobs in this field, please let us know. As far her transcripts are concerned, you would have to give a university of copy. Regarding interim employment, have you considered offering translation services to school districts? Special education has yearly meetings and at these meetings there are times when the parent does not speak English. These meeting require translation. If there is a school district with a large population of Indians, you might want to try that. |
