Career utilizing engineering and Japanese major? |
Not in college yet but I'm thinking of studying engineering and continuing my education in Japanese, so what jobs would be best with these things in mind? Is there a market for engineers in Japan? I work for a large medical device company and we actually have devision located in US that does all of the development for the Japanese market. Engineers and especially marketing people can definitley use Japanese language skills in this division. Robotics. The Japanese are leading the world in robotics research, and in particular looking to be dominant in robot manufacture and development within the next 10-20 years. And no, this isn't a cheap Jet Jaguar joke... :-) If you add an MBA on top of that, you can become a marketing executive for a US engineering firm that tries to get into the Japanese market. This is an excellent combination for any number of companies that work in both Japan and the U.S. If you also like to travel, you will be set. Automotive engineer would be an excellent choice. |
