Jobs in computing that pay well?

What careers in computing pay well, six figures? Don't say bill gates as that is not a job, programmer or network engineer is an example. So which pay the most?

Well... a job as a database administrator pays relatively well..... but not quite close to the 6 figure sum.

Completely depends on where you are. Check out salary.com for specific jobs in your area.

I would say that if you're good at what you do, you can easily approach 6 figures in 5 years work as a Database Administrator, System Administrator, or possibly as a Software Engineer with Software Engineer starting the slowest (DBA the fastest), but Software Engineer growing to the highest - especially if it's a position that can turn into being a team lead for other Software Engineers.

Some network admins do well, but no too many. Things like help desk IT support get really terrible salaries, but can often be used as stepping stones to good positions.
I think that Data Mining & Analysis is a new emerging field. (its not new but its more in demand now)
