it basically means you cannot discriminate against minorities or anyone for thier race or religion. You can discriminate against thier creed. For example if my creed is I smoke pot and like it a lot, they can say we don't hire pot heads.

As for race and religion, of course it still happens. Usually discreetly, they don't say i don't like you cause your black but all these things influence the desicion and after the interview they just say we'll call you. They certainly won't say sorry we don't hire black people. Although i heard that point blank in Asia.

Also there are exceptions, minorities don't have to hire majorities and can be quite open about it, they'll just say it';s a black issue and you just wouldn't fit in.

But generally speaking the idea is that your race (and religion) cannot be used as factors in hiring or firing you by law. pretty simple really.

Some people are subject to affirmative acction which states public companies must have at least a certain amount of minorities in thier employ. They can employ all minorities but not less than the required amount.

Federal equal employment opportunity is a big fat lie. you know whom and who knows you important. just like every other country. they cover up with this law. dont believe it.
