Breach of employment law (contract)?

I have received my redundancy letter dated the 05/12/07 today (07/12/07) stating that my contract is to end on the 21/12/07 giving me only 2 weeks notice even though my contract states 4 weeks (from me if i am to leave to persue another job and vice versa if the company are to end my contract) Is this a breach of employment law and should i be paid the 4 weeks even if i am to end on the 21/21/07?

Correct. You should be paid for 4 weeks but they can stop you from working that day if they choose (assuming your contract does say 4 weeks).

I agree. if the contract states 4 weeks for either side, they need to honour that. if they determine that your last working day is before that date, they will need to pay the rest out.

read your contract carefully then write to employer giving 28 days to put matters right then get form et1 from www.ets.gov.uk and fill that in it asks acas for an employment tribunal that will set off a chain of events first mediaation second tribunal..

whatever happens i expect the emplyers willl have settled amicably by then
