Inspection at a daycare....?

Next friday is the state inspection of the daycare I work at. We were informed by the director that it is a state law in Pennsylvania that we are not allowed to leave the building during inspection and if we do we immediatly get terminated. Is this really a state law. If so, does the place of employment have to provide a lounge or something for staff. The staff as of right now only has a small wicker couch in the lobby, that's it.

Not to be rude, but this question should have been put into a different category since it has nothing to do with family relationships.

Nevertheless, I think your employer is being overly paranoid in not allowing anyone to leave. What do you do for lunch? Do you have to eat there? Sounds a bit harsh. As to the lounge area, no employer is required to even have one let alone furnish it.

For better information, you should contact your local EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) which conducts federal investigations of employers who violate federal employment laws or your state's child care licensing agency (The ones doing the inspection) who would investigate violations of state laws. If this doesn't work, then contact your local district attorney's office (local prosecutor) for them to investigate possible violations. Don't contact these people while at work. Talk to them from another location so your employer won't know it was you who reported them.
