Being from Canada Discrimination still exists in the work place even with the laws. The problem here is that the fines for such are way to low and the legal battle you would have to launch would be monetarily very high and the time line for a settlement looks like it would take anywheres from 5 to 7 years.

Discrimination can be made to look like performance issues and lazy or a trouble maker. Many ways to get around things here. YOU HAVE TO PROVE IT IN THE END and then when you do they get a small fine for doing it. In Canada in my Province it is 5 to 10 thousand dollars.

Great fine for a multi-million dollar corporation....they laugh all the way to cutting the check and then continue doing what they want. Protection of the people or protection to the corporations? I think you got it!

Well at least that would be a start in the U.S. And in the right direction. Including everyone in the GLBT community is the only way as no one group should be left out. Someone who has put this bill together obviously doesn't understand Transgender. They always seem to be the ones left out and even some of the GLB's do not understand them. I have two Transgender friends so I know some of the issues. One still goes to work as a man. The other has had very little problems in the work place even with the change happening infront of everyone eyes.

United Kingdom has a great act for protecting all of us in the work place...at least that is what I see. Hopefully it is working!
