What recruiters do ? Are they employment agencies?
I own & manage a small recruiting firm, so I can speak to this directly. 'Recruiters' are the folks that manage the recruiting process. They find candidates, screen them, schedule interviews, and negotiate. An employment agency (aka recruiting firm) is the company that employs these recruiters. Unless a recruiter is independent, they work for a company and are paid a salary plus bonus/commission. There's the rub. They're kinda like salespersons -- they only make commission when someone gets hired. Immature or marginal recruiters will put their paycheck concerns before yours.
Like anything else, there are good recruiters & bad recruiters. Find someone who has been recruiting for at least 5 yrs. Credibility, clients & experience are everything in my business. A shady recruiter won't last long. Don't be his/her candidate. Hope this helps... |
