When your finger prints get taken for employment, does it say exactly what agency took them? or just employmen

I applied for a job 3 years ago with a Police Dept. They took my finger prints. I ended up not getting the job. I have started applying to different departments again, and they never asked what other department I applied with. When they run my finger prints through, will it say employment, or will it actually state which agency and when and where??

They are merely comparing your fingerprints in their own department agains the state and national database for know or wanted criminals. They keep it on file with the application and during your employment may do random or routine annual or less often checks of it's personnel. It's probably also checked on military files.

Most jobs will not hire you these days with out running a criminal history and having your finger prints on file. It is sorta a way for them to see what kind of person you are without doing a long personal investigation. The finger prints may or may not be used, but if you were ever a suspect in a crime they would have them on file to compare them. I seriously doubt it was your finger prints that failed you for a job. If they ask just tell them you were applying for a job. The criminal history is key not whether you had your finger prints taken or not. If you dont have a criminal record then you have no worries. Any crime you have ever been charged with shows up on a criminal history. The disposition is not there, but if you were charged with something they are probably going to ask about it and you should be ready to spill the beans so to speak.

Never really thought about it. I have had my prints taken many times over the years for both jobs and clearances. No one asked me from where or if the prints were tagged by another department. Usually your prints are accessed from the FBI data base. That's where they eventually end up. I would not worry about it. The majority of applicants for Law Enforcement jobs usually apply to many other departments until they get an offer.
