Why is it the employment agencies never call back????

I have a friend who is registered with 18 top employment agencies to help her

find work. When she finds a posting that she want's to apply for and it was posted

by one of the agencies she is with they never call her. She is more than qualified

for the positions so that's not the issue. She's keeping the lines of commuication

open so it's not like she missed a call or anything

I called the agency I'm with to see if they had anything for me and they said, "no, not at this time". I told her that I saw over 35 positions I am qualified for. I told her I

noticed quite a few online and she seemed bothered that said that and insisted that there was nothing.

We are both over 45 years of age and have extensive eperience. we are curious why we are never called. Please help us figure this out or let us know if this has happened to you or some one you know?

Agencies list jobs in the classifieds and on-line sites in order to gather resumes of potential candidates. Many of the jobs listed are not real, they are only used to hook people in. For the times that they do have jobs and clients they will present your resume. But most of the time companies do not want to pay the fees to an agency for a candidate these days. Your best bet is to continue your job search on your own and submit your resumes to the companies and jobs that you feel you are qualified for or would like to work for.

It's very simple. The jobs are fake. They post attractive looking jobs in the hopes of attracting sellable clients. these agencies are nothing more than headhunters.

Once they get a resume from a HIGHLY sellable applicant, then they try to find a job for that person so that they can get a big fat commission.

Sorry, but it's true. You are better off applying to companies who advertise their positions themselves and not agencies.

I've experienced the same problem as you and your friend are experiencing now. These agencies are just being nice to applicants but in reality, they don't need you, or you might be "over-qualified" for the position/s you are applying for, or it might be these agencies have something different in their minds and they are looking for other things which are beyond your qualifications. Although agencies (or employers) always say they are an "equal-opportunity" employers, they really don't abide by what they say. They still prefer the younger ones than older folks; they just entertain you for modesty's sake.

could be any or all of the following:
salary requirements make a younger candidate more appealing.
personality conflict during interview with agencies
the demeanor during the interview
grooming standards
attitude of frustration
bad credit report
Keep trying,i would suggest researching interview techniques on-line and trying again.
